Will stop several times on the trail for refreshments–bring what you wish. We will also make a stop at the Poskin Lake Resort on the way out and Roxie’s on the way back. Everyone is welcome–bring your friends and family. This is a great way to continue with our fun filled summer lake activities. I look forward to seeing you all.  You will want to make sure your machine is registered and licensed for the trails.

DESCRIPTION:LTLA Poker Run\nSaturday\, July 22 – 2:30 PM \nStart by traveling by watercraft to one of 2 registration stations – Marv and Nancy Karth’s or Jason and Tracy Peltier’s (docks will be marked) – to pay your $5.00 per person entry fee and pick up your “sign off sheet.” Both registration stations are also stop locations.  Between the hours of 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.\, travel to up to 10 stop locations (docks will be marked) to have your sheet authenticated. Once finished\, gather at Roxie’s Bar & Grill in Almena at 5:00 p.m. to draw cards for your poker hand.  You will be given one card for each authentication on your sheet.  The best poker hands determine the prize winners.  Cash prize amounts will be determined by the number of participants. \n\nAny number of participants (age 18 and older) can be on a watercraft.\nEach participant must pay an entry fee.\nIf any entry fee is paid so a particular person can play\, that person must be on a watercraft and obtain his/her own authentications.\nGuests of lakeshore owners are invited to play.\nEach participant must come to Roxie’s personally at 5:00 p.m. to receive his/her cards. DESCRIPTION:The Lower Turtle Lake Association is hosting the first 2017 Treats on the Lake events on the 2nd Saturday of each month of June\, July and August\, which will be June 10th\, July 8th and August 12. \nThis sounds too good to be true\, but it is! Watch for watercraft on the second Saturday of June\, July\, and August displaying a “treats” sign.  Make your way up to that watercraft and get yourself a treat courtesy of the Lower Turtle Lake Association.  Whether it be a hot dog or cool drink\, we’re sure you’ll want to make an effort to get out on the lake for a treat.  Want to learn more about it?  Want to volunteer to treat your lake friends at no cost to you?  Contact John Zilles or Carrie Walbridge for details.  (Contact information is on the Board Member listing.)

DESCRIPTION:FIRST ANNUAL\nLTL ASSOCIATION PHOTO CONTEST \nGrab your camera! The LTLA is sponsoring a photo contest! \nRules are as follows: \n\nPhotos must be taken between the time you receive this newsletter to the date of the Annual Picnic\, August 19.\nThe photos must be taken either on or around Lower Turtle Lake.\nSubject matter is each photographer’s choice.\nUp to three (3) photos can be entered in the contest by each photographer.\nEntries must be brought to the Annual Picnic.\nEach entry must be an unframed 5” x 7” print.\nEntries become the property of the LTLA.\nPhotos will be voted on by Annual Picnic attendees. In case of a tie\, the winner(s) will be determined by a coin toss.\nPrizes will be as follows:   First Prize = $25.00 – Second Prize = $15.00

SUMMARY:Invasive Buckthorn Removal Workshop
DESCRIPTION:There will be a Buckthorn Training workshop at 12PM Saturday\, May 20 at the Guys Spiers Park in west of town in Cameron. The purpose will be to educate landowners and friends on the threat of Buckthorn to our woodlots and hunting land and provide training on identification and control procedures. \nIn recent years Buckthorn has experienced a surge in growth resulting in significant patches of new and mature trees in woodlots where a few years ago there was much less evidence of its presence. Buckthorn grows several feet a year and in a few short years can leave a woodlot with a wall of 10-15 foot trees that neither man nor animal will walk through. \nBuckthorn can be treated and removed year round though spring and fall are the best times of the year for identification and control efforts. A significant growth of Buckthorn has been identified at the park in Cameron. \nThe Cedar Lake Buckthorn Control Project and volunteers with support of a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will conduct the training.
