DESCRIPTION:Starting in 2018 the Lower Turtle Lake District is sponsoring a monthly organics recycling program that takes place on the 2nd Saturday of each month through October.  LTL District is working with Almena Township\, which operates a landfill in conjunction with the Village of Turtle Lake that is located about 5 miles north of Turtle Lake on Highway 63 (across from the old golf course and where Hwy 63 adds a 2nd lane\, look for the orange cattle gate on the east side). Only residents of the Township of Almena or the Village of Turtle Lake can use this site. The landfill will be open between 10am and 5pm and accepts solid waste which is defined as clean soil\, brick building stone\, unpainted and untreated concrete\, reinforced concrete\, broken pavement\, unpainted and untreated wood as well as organic waste such as leaves\, brush\, tree stumps and cuttings and most importantly\, LAKE WEEDS including our invasive curly leaf pondweed.

DESCRIPTION:LTLA Poker Run 2018\nSaturday July 21 – 2:00 PM \nStart by traveling by watercraft to 1 of 2 registration stations – Marv and Nancy Karth’s or Bob and Denise Peltier’s (docks will be marked) – to pay your $5.00 per person entry fee and pick up your “sign off sheet.”  Both registration stations are also stop locations. Between the hours of 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.\, travel to 7 stop locations (docks will be marked) to have your sheet authenticated. Once finished\, gather at Roxie’s Bar & Grill in Almena at 5:00 p.m. to draw cards for your poker hand. You will be given one card for each authentication on your sheet. The best poker hands determine the prize winners. \n• Any number of participants (age 18 and older) can be on a watercraft.\n• Each participant must pay an entry fee.\n• If any entry fee is paid so a particular person can play\, that person must be on a watercraft and obtain his/her own authentications.\n• Guests of lakeshore owners are invited to play.\n• Each participant must come to Roxie’s personally at 5:00 p.m. to receive his/her cards. DESCRIPTION:This is the new date that was rescheduled from August 26th due to being rained out!  Back by popular demand–A LTL 4-wheeler ride–Saturday September 16th weather permitting. Meet at the east boat landing at 9:45am or before. Will be leaving at 10. Wheeling to Baron with side-trip on the trails behind the Use Area. Will stop several times on the trail for refreshments–bring what you wish. We will also make a stop at the Poskin Lake Resort on the way out and Roxie’s on the way back. Everyone is welcome–bring your friends and family. This is a great way to continue with our fun filled summer lake activities. I look forward to seeing you all.  You will want to make sure your machine is registered and licensed for the trails.

DESCRIPTION:Annual Picnic\nWhen:   Saturday\, August 19– 4:00 p.m. \nWhere: Bob and Roma Solberg “farm”   1294 3-1/4 St. \n(Take 3rd St. south off of HWY 8.  Watch for signs.) \nBring a dish to share and lawn chairs. Chicken\, plates\, napkins\, flatware\, and pop will be provided. \nThe picnic meal will be served at 4:00 p.m. Both a silent auction and a bucket auction will be held during the picnic.  This year we’ll also have games with lucky participants being awarded bid tickets for the bucket auction.  Everyone is encouraged to donate first by bringing something to the picnic that you’ve either crafted\, won as a prize\, received as a gift\, is a coupon for a service you’ll render\, or is something you’ve purchased and donating it and then donating again by bidding for one or more of many great items on the auctions.  (Note:  When bringing in your donated items\, please let a board member know which of the two fund raising opportunities you’d like your item to be included in.) \nBring something great. Go home with something great!!! \n(Cash and checks accepted.)
